When you use our AI-powered features (word explanations, sentence simplification, translations, Q&A), we process:

Important Notes About AI Processing

• When you tap a word or sentence for explanation, the selected text is sent to our AI providers for processing.
• AI providers process your queries in real-time and do not retain your data for model training.
• We do not send your personal information (name, email, etc.) to AI providers — only the book text and your query.

For EU/EEA users: Data transfers to the United States are conducted under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (DPF) where the provider is certified, or under Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission. Data transfers to China (DeepSeek) are conducted under Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).

Data Storage and Security

• Storage: Your data is stored on secure servers using industry-standard encryption
• Location: Your core account and reading data is stored on Neon (PostgreSQL) cloud servers. Usage analytics are processed by PostHog (United States). Error monitoring data is processed by Sentry (United States). AI features are processed by DeepSeek, OpenAI, and Anthropic. See "Third-Party Service Providers" above for details
• Retention: We retain your data while your account is active. You can request deletion at any time
• Security Measures: We implement technical and organizational measures to protect your data
